The Guitar

I’m a 24 year old musician, I play bass guitar for around 8 years now. My first bass was a Vintage and now I’m using a Fender. However, I’m looking for a new bass guitar, I’m not fully satisfied with Fender sound. I play many variations of music but I mostly prefer hard rock and heavy metal (bands like Metallica, Sepultura, Pantera, Guns N Roses and many Southern Rock/Metal bands). What I love in a bass sound is when the sound is really strong. Fender has a great sound but it sounds too “flat” while playing with heavy overdrived guitars.
I was thinking of looking in Ibanez or Yamaha basses.
What do you guys think? Can you give me some advice and suggest me some bass models?
