USED HARD GUITAR CASE
Musicians? Guitar Question..?
I would like to buy my husband an acoustic guitar for christmas, but I do not know a lot about them. I would really like some information from someone who is not trying to sell me one. So..1) Should I let him pick it out himself or should I do my best so he has something to open on christmas? 2) Is there really a big difference between the real and “fake” woods? 3)Does a amp hookup built-in make a sound difference? 4) I can only spend $200-$300 on this, is it worth it to use some of the money on a hard shell case, and sacrifice on the guitar?
He plays for fun, he is self taught, so this would be like a messing around the campfire guitar. Please only answer if you know what you are talking about!!! Thanks!
1. Yes, it’s better to let him pick one out.
2. It’s not a matter or real versus fake, it’s a matter of solid wood versus plywood. It does not matter all that much for the back and sides but absolutely the top should be solid wood.
3. A pickup does not affect the sound of an acoustic guitar.
4. I’d recommend spending as much as you can on the guitar and go with a gig bag instead of a hard case, unless you know that the guitar is going to be transported lots of places.
