CHEAP MARTIN GUITAR STRINGS

Why does my acoustic sound really brassy?
I changed the strings on my dad’s guitar because he hadn’t changed them in 20 years.
I used martin’s 11s because they are a good, cheap set of strings. But now the sound is really brassy and just doesn’t sound as good, why is this?
If you went from 20 year old strings to new ones it’s going to sound way different. Now it sounds like it should. New strings are always a little brassy. But the old ones were dead. It might mellow a little. If you want it to sound like it used to, it’s going to take about 20 years.
