BLUES GUITAR PLAYERS

BLUES GUITAR PLAYERS
In your opinion, who is/was the greatest rock/blues guitar player ever?

I have my own idea, but would like to know yours too.
Glad to see that people are adding a few British greats like Clapton, Page and Blackmore as well as the answers I expected for American players. Keep ‘em coming though…nobody has mentioned my favourites yet!
Good to see Jeff Beck on the list…Yep, he’s one of the very greatest.
Ok, thanks to all who took the time to answer. Pity no-one added the late, great Rory Galagher, nor indeed Roy Buchanan.

I can’t chose just one!!! -

*Leadbelly! He was a phenomenal blues guitarist.

*Stevie Ray Vaughn. The man had skills.

*Robert Johnson. The deal with the devil was worth it, Bob.

Three generations of rock guitarists come together for It Might Get Loud, a 2009 documentary directed by Davis Guggenheim (An Inconvenient Truth). As a member of U2, 48-year-old David Evans, better known as the …

Two distinct portraits of Chuck Berry emerge in this lavish four-disc set built around Hail! Hail! Rock n’ Roll, director Taylor Hackford’s 1986 documentary/concert film. On one side there’s the Berry who wrote a catalogue’s worth of genre-defining songs (”Maybellene,” “Johnny B. Goode,” “Roll Over Beethoven,” and so many others), all of them filled with wit, delightful stories, and poetry. He’s a…
