BEST GUITAR MUSIC THEORY BOOKS

best musical theory book?
whats the best musical theory book around? i took lsd, and im so inspired to become something in music, and im willing to crack open just about any book, even the thickest. i want to learn everything there is to know about music, and be able to make the music i want. i love the sounds of psychedelic synthpop, where can i become a great musician, where do i start? i already know a bit about music, modes, progressions, keys, structures, scales, and the broad stuff, and i own a few guitars, bass, and synthesizer, but just not the full knowledge to make the most out of it.
The best book to own is called: THE OXFORD COMPANION TO MUSIC.
It’s put together at oxford university in England (Which is the top school in the word for music) It’s actually an encyclopaedia but it’s only about music and it has the answer to EVERYTHING. Like your own personal data base. Mainly it’s for classical musicians but I own one. Next, theory books you WANT. There’s a series called MASTER YOUR THEORY by a woman called DULCIE HOLLAND. Theses are actually workbooks. Each lesson explains everything, then gives you some to work out and then there are questions to answer. I suggest you buy books one, two and three (You’ll only want 4,5,&6 if you’re doing classical music) I also suggest that when you get them, you scan them and write on the printed out sheets so you can practice more. If you’re after theory about rock styles don’t bother. Learn the real theory from these books and then when you talk to other musicians they can show you the differences. It’s the best way to go. Oh, and be careful when you order the books that you order MASTER YOUR THEORY and not know your theory. One’s good, the other….not so. Good luck. Cat.
