BASS GUITAR BODY WOODS
how do i value a vox bass guitar?
i purchased it in the mid 80’s. i have never seen another one. i have the serial number it’s 2012528. it’s is a uni body(neck and body are one piece of wood) long scale bass. so far no one at the local dealers have been able to find it in their listings.
Vox goes back to the ’60’s, building their own amps,
but the first guitars were made for them, by a small guitar company in England
can’t remember the name right now
then the Eko Company, from Italy made the ones that became famous, in the mid/late ’60’s and early 70’s. These do have some value, but I haven’t seen a book price on them, and the value will vary a LOT, depending on which model, (can’t tell that by the Ser #)
and they made a LOT of different models,
Teardops, Phantom, Marks etc
the condition of the body,
does it work,
is the neck straight (a lot have gone bad)
do the electronics/pickups work,
do you have the original hardshell case (most were a light blueish grey) what condition is it in?
etc
Then, the name was sold in the early ’70’s, and a LOT of companies bought and sold it.
There were a lot of Vox guitars and amps made, for years by various companies, in various countries.
I didn’t keep track of it anymore..
they could be worth anything from a hundred, to a few hundred, depending on the model, the condition, where it was made etc (the Italian ones probably have the most value)
