GUITAR STRINGS GAUGE
When changing guitar strings to a higher gauge do I have to increase the gauge of the slots at the nut.?
I have a fender stratocaster with 10-46 strings and want to install 11-50 gauge GHS nickle rockers with wound third string, tuned down 1/2 step for blues playing will I have to increase the gap at the nut or should the strings sit in the slots tight.
No, don’t fool around with the guitar nut. The gauge will fit in between the grooves, no problemo.
The string swill sit in the slot perfectly.
