GUITAR POWER CHORDS CHARTS
Self taught guitar players, how long until I get good?
I have had guitar lessons for about 6 months and felt I haven’t got anywhere,, I am going to give them up and teach myself.. I am very beginner, but am wondering for feedback on how long until I can play songs, write and compose songs, my main interest is in acoustic music and “power chords” type rock (Green Day, Nirvana influence).
I know some basic open chords, but can’t switch back and forth very well.. and as far as the power chords go, I can switch good on those, but don’t understand what their names all are? Is there a chart or tabs of nothing but power chords anywhere??
Well it seems as if me and you are about the same. I got taught lessons to play electric guitar for about 2 months and got nowhere! So I stopped and taught myself. I kept going online and figuring things out like how to read tabs and how to palm mute. Eventually I got really good. Now I’m only 14 and I started when I was 10. Just keep practicing EVERY DAY until the skin on your fingers literally starts to fall off. Keep checking in the lessons column of Ultimate-Guitar.com. They have lots of great lessons that will get you started. It’s tough work playing guitar but you just have to keep at it every day. Especially if you want to start writing songs. I just started writing songs for my band when I turned 14 because I didn’t know where to start. But once you keep practicing every day you’ll be in a band like Green Day!
