headstock decal for kit guitar?
Hi, I’m thinking of buying a strat style guitar kit and I’m just wondering is it ok to put a fender decal onto the headstock of the guitar. I found some online and I’m just wondering if it would be ok to do that
Hello! I guess it depends on what your intentions are for the guitar. If you plan to keep it forever, and fool your friends and casual onlookers into thinking you have a genuine Fender instrument, then do it and have fun. On the other hand, if you plan to eventually sell it, do not try to pass it off as a Fender-manufactured guitar. True, there are copyright issues involved; however, unless you started mass-producing instruments with their trademark displayed, the likelihood of the Fender Musical Instruments Corporation sending out lawyers to punish you in court is pretty much non-existent.
