Can you gloss over matt finsh guitars?
Hi,
I was wondering does anyone know if you can gloss over matt finish guitars. I just bought a handpainted matt finish guitar and I want it glossed. is it possible?

Yes! But you will have to ‘flat’ the surface first by rubbing over with very fine sandpaper! This will provide a keyed surface for the gloss to bond to – just be careful what type of gloss you use – the wrong type and it will blister and bubble.
You might have to surface test a small area first – they use different types of gloss varnish – oil based and enamel types won’t mix
