guitar tuner help?
i got a free guitar tuner with a 5 pack of strings. its a planet waves strobe light tuner shaped like a pick. the light is supposed to move on the string when its out of tune but it always moves cuz the string vibrates. can someone tell me what im doing wrong or if this product just sucks?
It may just be a bad tuner. But, some tuners are more senstive than others. If this is the case, simply strumming the string won’t work for tunning. You’ll have to use harmonics to tune. Try strumming the string and then lightly touching your finger to the string directly above the 12th fret. Don’t push the string all the way down, just a very light tap. It will make the string sound 1 octave higher which is generally a more stable sound vibration that should make the light stay in one general area.
If that doesn’t work, the tuner just probably doesn’t work (which is likely the case considering you got it for free.) Until you find a better tuner, I would suggest using a piano to tune or this website:

The only downside with that is you can only use it to tune in standard tuning, but hey, its better than nothing.
