Problems Restringing and Tuning a Fender Strat?
I am trying to restring my guitar, up until now it had the factory strings. The gauges of strings I am trying to use are different than factor (new ones are Dean Markley LTHB). When I tune the lower strings, primarily A and E, to get the correct tension it pulls the bridge up pretty far off the guitar, and of course in doing so puts the rest of the strings out of tune. trying to get them all in tune with the bridge the correct 1/8″ off the body (as suggested in the manual) just isnt happening. Suggestions are certainly appreciated. In the mean time I also bought a set of Fender strings (superbullet), with the same gauge as the factor set to see if that makes any difference.

You need to take your axe in and get the bridge tension adjusted if you want to use a heavier gauge of strings than what it’s set for. The new set of Superbullet’s you bought should do alright, but take it in to the pro shop and get that bridge sorted out ASAP.
See…this is why I prefer Telecasters (not to mention 9 guage strings!) I love my Tele…a friend of mine has a ‘54 Strat (hand me down from his dad, with the matching Fender Twin Reverb amp to go with it…lucky bastard!!!) and he had the exact same problem you do.
