Guitar players: How do I get the best sound out of this pedal…?
I have a Peavey Vypyr 15W amp with built-in effects and I recently bought a boss overdrive/distortion pedal. I just can’t seem to get a good sound out of it though! I’ve heard demos of the same pedal online and they sound great. I’m not sure if its my amp or settings… but any help would be great!
You definitely want to have your amp on clean with no effects, all your bass mids and highs neutral, and the gain on your amp turned down. Then you should mess around with the pedal settings until you get it to sound how you like, and then you could mess around with your amp settings as well.
Also if you have your amp loud, being only 15 watts, it probably just won’t sound good period.
Personally I like to keep my 25 watt amp with the bass about 2 o’clock, the mids at about 10-11 o’clock, and the highs at 1 o’clock.
On that particular pedal I would keep the level around mid to 2/3’s the tone maybe slightly lower than halfway, and then mess around with the last two knobs as you please.
