BASS GUITAR GEAR TEST
bass making weird sounds?
Ive been playing bass for 6 months and i use a Washburn Taurus T12 and i use a crate 20w guitar amp (im saving to get a real bass amp) but when i move around my amp makes this horrible sound. the sound is hard to describe its like a grinding pulsing sound. it isn’t constant and only happens when i move and it happens less if i keep the chord elevated.
i have tested my bass on 2 different guitar amps. i cant try it on a bass amp because i don’t have a friend with a bass/bass amp.
extra info: i do play near a tv but the sound still happens when its off. my chord is a 10ft musicians gear tweed chord but i have also used a different chord and it still makes the same sound. there are several electronics near my amp and bass (xbox, tv, and a lamp)
Dirty contacts on the jack, or cold solder joints (bad connections) on the electronics in the bass. Could be a bad cable too, bad connections at the plug … try reversing the cable ends. Also be careful when you wrap up your cable, make nice loose coils about the size of a dinner plate; if it gets all twisted up the core could break.
