BASS GUITAR DIAGRAM NOTES

Bass question!! Notes of strings….?!?
Ok, so I’m trying to figure this out. I play piano, and as you go up the keys, the letter names go up in order. it makes sense to me. now, i found this diagram on the bass guitar notes for strings. it’s not making sense. which side of the diagram is closest to the pickups? this may seem like a moronic question, but i’m a beginner. thanks in advance for any help……..~Indie G

Yeah, it’s also upside downish. Th right side is toward the pickups, but the “E”, shown as the bottom, is actually the top. It’as drawn that way cuz of the way you view your bass as you hold it, looking down at the strings from above.
Basically, in theory, if it were drawn acurately to account for the size of your neck, you could cut out the diagram and glue it to your fretboard. Onlookers would see an upside-down EADG designation, but it would look right-side up to you.
All of this is assuming, of course, that you are right-handed!
Did you get your bass yet?
