BASS GUITAR CHORDS TABS

I’m Learning Guitar and I Want To Learn By Tabs AND Chords?
I’m thinking of taking up another instrument. I’ve been playing music for about 10 years so Im experienced and I already know how to read notes/chords etc etc..
Thing is, I want to start learning guitar but I dont know where to start. In the end I want to be able to play by tabs and chords, and be able to play acoustic and electric.
I’m going to teach myself and I have a few friends who are experienced guitar players so I can get help from them.
I havn’t got the guitar yet but I’m getting that soon. I just need to know whether I should start with acoustic or electric and learn by chords or tabs first? I’ve had a little experience with guitars and I know 4 easy chords haha, of course I’ll learn more once I get a guitar though.
Also, I want to be able to play bass. So when should I start learning bass? Should I learn it while I’m learning guitar or after?
The style of music I will be playing is more rock and possibly some pop music. Anyone help??
In terms of what to start on, it really is just what you want to play. Most traditionalists will tell you to start on acoustic, but if you will play electric more often start on electric, and vice versa.
The fact you have been playing music for a long time will help. You will pick it up quicker. You can either get a good self teaching book, or look up tabs on the net. Your sound musical knowledge will have you in good stead.
Bass is something that you can learn while learning guitar, as the two compliment each other, but be careful not to treat it as a low guitar. It has it’s own place and style, its often hard for guitarists to initially distinguish this. There is no reason you can’t learn both at the same time, but try to treat them as seperate entities, rather than a bass just being a low guitar.
Hope this has helped.
