BASS GUITAR CHORDS CHARTS

how to play jazz bass?
hi i’ve been playing bass for four months but I played guitar for 6 years before that. i’ve been working on my time and all but I want to be in my school’s jazz band and don’t know what to practice. Should I just practice walking bass lines or jazz lines with actual rhythms instead of just quarter notes? or both? and do I have to learn how to read music or just chord charts? any tips on the audition would be great too. thanks!
if you plan on planing standard jazz you need to know more than just reading you need to be able to use the blues scales in every key its not hard once you get the hang of things
you ll learn over time that allot of jazz bass is improved but not all
for an audition i would do one standard piece with sheet music and one improv style using blues scales along with the song.
for a solo piece just be original and go with the rhythm and flow of the song and stay with in the scale
good luck
