BASS GUITAR BRIDGE SADDLES

Action on my bass guitar?
I’ve had a bass guitar for a while now (since christmas) and i have been playing regular guiar for about a year before that. I had a lot of trouble finding the right action height for my electric guitar, but eventually figured it all out. my question is, does action make just as much of a difference in the playibility of a bass as it does for a guitar? what should the action of a bass normally be (from the 12th fret to the bottom of what string [EAD or G])? i’m pretty sure i know how to adjust the action by using the screws that hold up the saddle pieces on the bridge, but what tool will i need to turn them??
thanks
The action is set by the relief in the curve of the neck by use of the truss-rod. You want a striaght-to a very slight up-curve in the fingerboard. When you get that, then you mess with the saddles.
Look down the length of the neck, do you see a curve in the fingerboard? That should be ever so slight. You do not want it curving back-wards.
After you get the straight, mess with the height of you saddles, then you have to re-adjust the intonation. There is quite alot to it. You just dont start tweeking things without know what you are doing. One turn HERE will mess up something else over THERE.
If you are lost, $45 will get it done for you right.
