how to fix this big crack in my bass guitar?
I need a big help. I brought this bass guitar last august as a gift from my mom. My bass guitar slams down on the floor so hard and it makes a big critical crack on the tuning part of the body. It’s a dimebag ML imitation bass guitar. Please, I don’t want anyone to know this so I need to fix this now.
I think you’re going to have to fess up. It needs to go to a repair shop and your mom is sure to find out. I’m sure it can be repaired, but unless you’re an experienced wood worker you should leave it to a pro. Wood glue is actually stronger than the wood, so a proper glue and clamp job should hold. If it’s just cracked on one of the wing tips, i’st no big deal. If it’s cracked in an area of the tuning head that’s under tension, then you’ve got to do it right.
I have a friend who did something similar to his acoustic guitar. Dropped it off a kitchen chair and snapped the neck right where the tuning head joins the neck. He glued it…may have pegged it with dowels, I can’t remember. It looked horrible, but held for years. If you want to make it invisible, you need a pro. Sorry for your loss…..
