BASIC GUITAR THEORY
how do you make a guitar riff?

i know all the basic guitar theory, where like all the notes in the key of ‘D’ go quite well, and i know what each note is on all the frets and strings. i can mkae a power chord sequence that sounds pretty cool but i can’t make like single not riffs. any advice?

Pick a scale. In this example we will use A Pentatonic Minor
E-5-8-
B-5-8-
G-5-7-
D-5-7-
A-5-7-
E-5-8-
Here is the tab. Choose any string. Here we will use the D String
D-5-7
Use the notes up and down the string to make riffs. You can use open strings if E, B, G are important notes (e.g. the tonic [first note of scale] or fifth)
